We're so excited to share our conversation with the Songge Bros as our next candle collection is inspired by the ever healing and ancient herb, Cannabis. Cannabis is not new to Guam. In fact, it was reported to be introduced by American servicemen during the Vietnam war, circa 1960s-1970s. Cannabis in Guam was made legal for medicinal use in 2015 and for recreational use in 2019. However, plans for a Cannabis industry is still in the works. We wanted to interview Songge Bros Farm since they are one in a few local Cannabis enthusiast showcasing herbs on Instagram. We hope you enjoy the interview!
Q: What is Songge Bros?
A: A group of like minded people growing medical grade cannabis.
Q:Why do you grow Cannabis?
A: I grow Cannabis because I love to. I feel the most fulfilled when Im growing.
Q:What made you start growing Cannabis?
A: I wanted to since I was a very young kid. I would get a hold of High Times and check out early forums online to try to get as much info as possible. I knew I'd be growing one day.
Q: Who is the most influential grower to you?
A: I would say a handful of growers I've met here on island had the biggest influence on me. But growing up watching Jorge Cervantes and the other outlaws on High Times, I really wanted to have a relationship to Cannabis like they did. They risked everything to grow it and I was curious to see if it was really worth it.
Q: Do you have a favorite strain that you love to smoke?
A: Favorite strain is GMO(Garlic Cookies)
Q: Do you think consuming Cannabis is a spiritual act?
A: Cannabis is very personal and everyone experiences it differently, It could bring you closer to God or it could be a very secular experience. For me personally, yes. I value the self-reflection it influences me to make.
That's all for now! Make sure to follow Songge Bros on Instagram @songgebrosfarm. Also, be on the lookout for our Cannabis-inspired candle collection :) Happy Healing!
